Difficulty: Moderate. Several demanding climbs, although not too long.
Best feature: Possibility of warming up well during the flat at the beginning.
Road safety: Roads are in good condition. Cyclists are forbidden from riding along the LZ-1 between Tahíche and Guatiza, instead you must take the alternative service road that runs parallel.

The route: Outbound is flat and the return is mountainous.

This ride to Órzola at the northernmost tip of the island is mostly flat. The return is considerably shorter with beautiful climbs and panoramic views including those on the Mirador del Río road.

Variant 1. Short route omitting Órzola (67 kms total): After Arrieta, branch left along the LZ-201 and then the LZ-202 to the Mirador del Río and head back when you’re ready.

Variant 2. The shortest route via Tabayesco (51 kms total): As you reach the road parallel to La Garita Beach, take the LZ-207 road that runs through the Tabayesco Valley and then through the Malpaso Valley (LZ-10) Both climbs are well known on the island and commonly used for training.
